Summer Book Club

July 2022

There are perhaps no days of our childhood we lived so fully as those we spent with a favorite book.

—Marcel Proust

Books hold transformative power. They teach us about the world, empower us to become better versions of ourselves, and inspire us to change our perspectives. Girls Group’s Summer Book Club is designed to ignite passion for reading, prevent summer learning loss, and inspire self growth.

This year, Girls Group participants have been taking turns leading discussions and reflection activities as they make their way through the book, Black Enough: Stories of Being Young & Black in America, by Ibi Zoboi. The student leaders have already brought thought-provoking questions to the group surrounding identity, art, and relationships.

When asked about her experience in the club so far, one participant responded, “Summer Book Club is really fun, I wouldn’t change anything about it!”

We can’t wait to hear what else they learn!
