Three participants creating beds for animals at the Huron Valley Humane Society

Serving Our Community

May 2024

Last month at Girls Group, participants wrapped up their month-long community service projects! Community services is one of our four core themes, as it provides participants with opportunities to engage in meaningful community service projects to build confidence, encourage reflection, and provide hands-on learning opportunities.

Participants identified an area of service they care about, learned about the issues that the community face, then worked together to complete a meaningful project. This time around, participants opted to create beds for animals at the Huron Valley Humane Society.

“It is clear that participants felt proud and excited of the work they completed and the impact they made,” a staff member explained.

“I learned to ‘trust the process’ because I wasn’t sure after the first day how the beds would turn out,” one participant shared, “they turned out so cute… I’m glad we could help give some comfort to the animals.”
