This month, Girls Group participants attended a life-changing 3-day out-of-state college exploration trip. Participants explored new cities, met with current college students, attended fun on-campus activities, made new friends, and created lasting memories.
One participant shared, “My favorite part was learning about different programs and different types of colleges.”
This trip was particularly memorable for participants who had not been out of state, slept in a hotel, or visited new cities. Participants visited four colleges including 2 Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU):
- University of Toledo
- Bowling Green State University
- Wilberforce University (HBCU)
- Central State University (HBCU)
After the tours, participants felt inspired about their futures, and began planning their college journeys. Factors influencing their college decisions included: distance from home, programs offered, college ranking, and the type of college.
Another participant said, “This confirmed that I want to go to University of Toledo! I can’t wait to get involved on campus.”
