Thanks to the generosity of the Ann Arbor Branch of AAUW, this summer, three Girls Group participants and one staff member were able to attend the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders held on the University of Maryland Campus.
Over the course of the event, participants engaged in dynamic workshops, inspiring keynote sessions, and collaborative activities designed to foster confidence, leadership skills, and a strong sense of community. Workshop topics included Finding the Right Career for You, Start Smart Salary Negotiation, Navigating the Workforce as a First-Generation Trailblazer, and more.
By the end of the conference, the participants left with a deeper understanding of their potential and also the encouragement and resources needed to turn their ambitions into reality. “My favorite workshop was on political and civil engagement. I didn’t know how to get involved with issues that are important to me, and the workshop gave me realistic ways to get involved,” one participant shared. “This was an unforgettable experience,” another participant added.
The Leadership Conference proved to be more than just an event—it was a catalyst for personal and collective growth, setting the stage for a new generation of confident, capable young leaders.
