Community Service Projects

This spring, Girls Group participants took part in a series of thoughtful and hands-on community service projects rooted in ethical service practices. Meaningful service begins with listening, so each project was designed in partnership with local organizations to reflect the expressed needs of the communities they support.

Access to food and basic hygiene is a critical part of housing stability, so participants focused on meeting immediate needs. Sixth graders brainstormed ways to address poverty, shared their experiences volunteering at the Bryant Community Center food pantry, and planned a food drive. Seventh graders took action by assembling hygiene kits for community members facing housing insecurity.

Participants deepened their understanding of interpersonal violence through engaging discussions and activities designed to help them identify toxic behaviors. Additionally, the participants thoughtfully created uplifting artwork for Safehouse to display in their apartments for survivors.

Another group of high schoolers rolled up their sleeves to make “seed bombs”, small bundles of soil, clay, and wildflower seeds that can be planted in neglected areas to encourage biodiversity and beautify the environment. This project connected environmental action to community well-being.

Thank you for supporting the incredible work our participants are doing to learn, grow, and give back. We’re so proud of the thoughtfulness and heart they brought to each project this spring, and we can’t wait to see how they continue to lead with purpose in the seasons ahead.
